Path of Exile 2's massive early-access launch brought some unexpected challenges, as developer Grinding Gear Games is currently overwhelmed by player-support requests. The dark fantasy ARPG's launch was a major success. Grinding Gear Games announced that it sold over 1 million early-access keys across PC and consoles, and Path of Exile 2 reached a peak of more than 570,000 concurrent players on Steam shortly after its release on December 6. Since then, it has consistently ranked among the top-played and top-selling games on the platform.

Unfortunately, the surge in players has created significant issues for Grinding Gear Games' support team. In a forum post, the developer revealed that it is now facing an "enormous" volume of support tickets, which are taking much longer to process than usual. Previously, the support team would typically respond within the same day, or even within the same hour, but they are now struggling to keep up. Technical limitations have further exacerbated the situation, as the support system became overloaded, causing emails to be processed incorrectly.

On a positive note, Grinding Gear Games is actively seeking to hire additional staff for its support team to reduce the backlog as quickly as possible. The developer has also made improvements to its support systems to handle more emails efficiently. Grinding Gear Games is urging players who are waiting for responses to refrain from sending follow-up requests, as this could create more delays and complications.

"Please be assured that if you're waiting for a response from our Support team, they'll get back to you as soon as humanly possible," the developer stated.

In addition to addressing support issues, Grinding Gear Games is making gameplay adjustments to Path of Exile 2 to make it less punishing and more rewarding. Players will now experience fewer instances of being body-blocked by monsters due to changes to the dodge-roll mechanic. The ability to teleport between saved checkpoints on a map will also reduce the need for backtracking after dying. Furthermore, rewards from magic, rare, and boss enemies will be more substantial, with increased item drop rates.
