The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dismissed selectors Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq on Wednesday, a decision made after the team's underwhelming performance in the T20 World Cup last month. The 2009 title holders were defeated by first-time participants and co-hosts United States, leading to their elimination in the group stage of the 20-team competition.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board... has informed Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their roles in the national selection committee will no longer be necessary," stated the PCB in an official release. Razzaq served on both the men's and women's selection committees, while Wahab continued to represent the men's seven-member committee, despite being removed from his position as the panel's head earlier this year.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had previously pledged significant reforms following the team's performance at the World Cup.
