Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to undertake a one-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates on November 26. According to an official statement from the Philippines' Presidential Communications Office, the Philippine president will meet with President Sheikh Mohamed in Abu Dhabi in the afternoon of that day. These anticipated discussions are expected to result in agreements that will strengthen the bonds between the two nations, fostering cooperation in areas that align with their shared values and common interests.
Although the visit will be brief, the goodwill and opportunities it will generate are expected to be significant, leading to enhanced relations between the Philippines and the UAE. Additionally, Marcos Jr. will express the gratitude of the Philippine government to the leaders of a nation that has embraced Filipino talent, allowing it to thrive in an environment characterized by kindness, respect, and tolerance.
The statement from the presidential office also noted that the president "requests the understanding of kababayans in the UAE, who have hoped for time with him, as he has decided to immediately return to Manila to continue his personal oversight and inspection of the relief and reconstruction efforts in communities ravaged by six consecutive typhoons." The accompanying delegation has been reduced to the minimum necessary.
