A decade-long wait between Pikmin 3 and last year's Pikmin 4 is finally over, as the beloved creatures are (sort of) stepping into the real world. Starting today, the Pikmin are making their appearance at the San Diego Zoo as part of a prolonged promotional event in collaboration with Nintendo.

As stated in the official announcement, "explorers of all ages" are encouraged to visit the San Diego Zoo in San Diego, California to discover the Pikmin scattered throughout the zoo. The Pikmin are being utilized to inspire younger visitors to develop and deepen their love for nature and the animals that inhabit the wild. Zoo visitors will have the opportunity to locate Pikmin-themed spots and capture images of these tiny beings. According to the zoo, the Pikmin "can assist in guiding your expedition around Wildlife Explorers Basecamp."

Furthermore, a My Nintendo kiosk will be available at the San Diego Zoo within the Pikmin pop-up tent, allowing registered Nintendo account holders to claim 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points. Guests can also receive a "Nintendo goodie bag" from the pop-up tent by completing minor tasks such as finding and photographing a Pikmin at the zoo. These Platinum points can then be exchanged for tangible rewards on the My Nintendo website.

The Pikmin promotion will be active at the San Diego Zoo until November 28, but the Pikmin pop-up tent will close a few days earlier on November 24. Additionally, October is Kids Free Month at the San Diego Zoo, where all children aged 11 and under, accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket, can enjoy free entry.
