As breast cancer awareness month approaches in November, Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) is reviving its beloved Pink Caravan initiative for a delightful family event. The three-day celebration at Aljada in Sharjah, commencing on October 4, will offer complimentary breast cancer screenings and host informative awareness workshops.
Operating daily from 4 pm to 10 pm near the ZAD food trucks in Aljada, this free event is designed to motivate individuals to seize the opportunity for free screenings, prioritize their health, and underscore the significance of early detection in enhancing treatment efficacy and boosting the likelihood of complete recovery. The Pink Caravan's mobile and mini clinics will extend free breast cancer screenings to both men and women.
Awareness workshops will delve into cancer prevention, self-examination techniques, and the criticality of routine medical check-ups. Specialized sessions will be accessible for cancer patients and survivors, who benefit from FOCP's unwavering and continuous support. The event will also boast sports, contests, and entertainment suitable for all age groups.
A petting zoo will provide children with the chance to engage with and feed animals, while the children's area will feature bouncy castles and a gamer zone for the younger crowd. Adults can indulge in a distinctive shopping experience and savor an array of delectable foods. The three-day affair will also spotlight the Manbat market, showcasing locally sourced healthy products, with a portion of the proceeds earmarked to support FOCP's mission of providing financial and emotional aid to cancer patients.
The Pink Shop will present exclusive merchandise, with all sales directly contributing to cancer patients and their families. Annually, Pink Caravan orchestrates a spectrum of programs to elevate awareness about breast cancer. Last year, Khaleej Times joined FOCP's annual trek across the seven emirates, offering free screenings and advocating for the importance of early detection in combating breast cancer.
