Panic has revealed that Playdate Season 2 is in active development and is set to debut in 2025. This upcoming season will feature a fresh assortment of games, all crafted specifically for the Playdate handheld console. For those eager to dive into Season 2 as it unfolds, purchasing the season through Panic's online store, Catalog, will be necessary. Specifics such as the quantity of games, the cost, and the participating developers will be disclosed at a later time.
The Playdate device itself is currently on backorder, with shipments scheduled to commence in December. Notably, each Playdate sold will also include Season 1. The Playdate stands out as a unique handheld, distinguished by its mechanical crank and monochrome display, having made its debut in April 2022.
