Pokemon and Aardman have joined forces for a new venture. The two companies revealed their partnership today, announcing that their collaborative project will debut in 2027. A teaser image showcased a Poke Ball being crafted with Aardman's signature clay, hinting at the use of their renowned claymation animation style (and reassuring fans, there's no clay shortage).

While specifics are scarce, one possibility is that Aardman is developing a Pokemon TV show or movie using their distinctive animation technique. However, this remains speculative. In a statement, Aardman confirmed they are collaborating with The Pokemon Company on a "special project" set to reach audiences in 2027. This venture will integrate Aardman's iconic style into the Pokemon universe, promising "brand-new adventures."

Aardman, a renowned UK animation studio, is famous for franchises like Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run. This partnership with The Pokemon Company is one of several licensed projects Aardman is currently working on, including a reboot of the Pingu TV series in collaboration with Mattel.

In October, Aardman announced layoffs following a $700,000 loss in 2023. Their next major release is Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, premiering on Christmas Day on BBC and streaming on Netflix from January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, the next big release in the Pokemon game series is Pokemon Legends: Z-A, scheduled for the Nintendo Switch in 2025. The latest sensation in the Pokemon franchise is the mobile game Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, which has reportedly generated over $200 million in revenue.
