With more than 60 million downloads recorded to date, Pokemon TCG Pocket is emerging as yet another blockbuster mobile game featuring Pikachu and his vast array of Pokemon companions. Until now, those 60 million players have had access to just one set of cards. However, that’s set to change next week with the release of the first expansion, Mythical, which introduces 80 new cards on December 17.
Mew takes the spotlight as the featured Pokemon on the packs of this expansion, which also introduces new binder and display-cover options. Among the cards teased in the expansion’s reveal trailer are foil-bordered versions of Tauros, Supporter cards for Blue and Lass, and alternate art versions of Marshadow, Vaporeon, and Dedenne. Additionally, two EX cards have been unveiled for the Mythical Island expansion: Mew EX and Aerodactyl EX, each with unique abilities.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket debuted on October 30 for iOS and Android devices, offering a fresh way to engage with the Pokemon TCG, which originally launched in the U.S. in January 1999. The game allows players to open free card packs daily, build decks using those cards, and engage in streamlined battles against opponents, capturing the essence of the physical card game in a digital format.
