The Pune car accident case took a new turn on Tuesday morning as police officials detained the father of the minor accused, identified as Vishal Agarwal. The Commissioner of Police, Pune, Amitesh Kumar, confirmed the detention of the father from the Sambhajinagar area of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra. The incident, which resulted in the tragic loss of two lives, involved a Porsche colliding with a motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar mentioned that the police are seeking permission to try the juvenile accused as an adult under sections of the Juvenile Justice Act. The severity of the crime has resulted in the police taking action under section 304 of IPC, a non-bailable section due to the heinous nature of the offense.
Following the Juvenile Justice Board granting bail to the accused, conditions for rehabilitation and awareness have been imposed. These include working with the traffic police, writing an essay on the accident, seeking treatment to stop drinking, and undergoing psychiatric counselling.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, occurring in the early hours at about 3:15 am. The Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar Magar confirmed the apprehension of the juvenile and the legal actions taken against his father and the bar that served him alcohol. The accused has been charged with multiple sections under IPC and the Motor Vehicle Act, while his father and the bar face charges under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Details from the FIR revealed that the accident took place as a group of friends were returning home on their motorcycles after a party. At the Kalyani Nagar junction, the speeding luxury car collided with their bike, resulting in the loss of lives and damage to property.
