Police have decided not to charge Jason Kelce following an altercation with a fan prior to the Penn State versus Ohio State game in November.
Penn State University police announced the closure of the case in a statement, explaining that the individual in the video circulating on social media has not been identified, and no complaints related to personal property damage have been filed with the University Police.
The video on social media captured the retired Philadelphia Eagles center interacting with fans before the game. One fan confronted Kelce, asking, "How does it feel that your brother [Travis] is a faggot for dating Taylor Swift?" Kelce then appeared to grab the fan's phone, smash it to the ground, and respond, "Who's the faggot now?"
Kelce was at Penn State as part of ESPN's coverage of the game. A few days later, he addressed the incident during ESPN's broadcast of the Kansas City Chiefs' victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"In a heated moment, I chose to respond to hate with hate," Kelce said before the Buccaneers-Chiefs game. "I fell short this week."
Travis Kelce has been in a public relationship with Taylor Swift for a year and co-hosts a popular podcast with Jason, who retired at the end of last season after 13 years with the Eagles.
"I believe the bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule," Jason Kelce said of the incident. "That's what I've always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I'm committed to doing that moving forward despite my lapse in judgment."
In August, the Kelce brothers signed a $100 million, three-year deal with Wondery for their podcast, New Heights.
