Earlier this year, 20th Century Studios revealed that Predator: Badlands will bring the franchise back to theaters after a hiatus since 2018's The Predator. However, it seems the studio has grander plans for the series than initially thought, including a previously undisclosed secret Predator film. 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell shared this news during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He also confirmed that Prey director Dan Trachenberg is helming both upcoming Predator movies.

"After Prey became a hit, Dan [Trachtenberg] returned and expressed he didn't want to do Prey 2," Asbell recounted. "We asked what he had in mind, and he presented several wild yet intriguing ideas. We've actually greenlit two of them. Both are set to release next year. One remains under wraps, but the other is the live-action Predator film starring Elle Fanning, which recently wrapped in New Zealand. It's titled Badlands and is an incredibly bold concept. It's sci-fi, but not in the way everyone expects. It's fantastic and utterly unconventional, but we trust Dan completely."

Asbell refrained from divulging specifics about the second Predator film but mentioned it would debut before Badlands, which he clarified is live-action. This could imply the second film might be animated or another Hulu exclusive, akin to Prey. For now, speculation is all we have. Regarding the franchise's future, Asbell hinted at a potential Alien vs. Predator crossover. "It wouldn't follow the conventional route," Asbell explained. "It wouldn't just be titled Alien vs. Predator like the original films. If we proceed, it would organically evolve from these two franchises, combining characters we've grown to love… possibly. But we haven't finalized that yet. We won't rush it."

Predator: Badlands is scheduled for release on November 7, 2025, a date it inherited from Marvel's Blade reboot earlier this week.
