As Halloween draws near, Prime Video is gearing up for its latest horror-themed baking competition show, Killer Cakes. This new series, reminiscent of Food Network's Halloween Wars, which focuses on horror-themed cakes and pastries, is a joint venture between Blumhouse Television and High Noon Entertainment, the creators behind Cake Boss.
The two-part special will be hosted by Matthew Lillard, known for his roles in the original Scream and Five Nights At Freddy's. According to the official synopsis, "Bakers with terrifying skills attempt to win some of the most frightening challenges ever produced for television." Contestants will collaborate with top Hollywood special effects artists to bring their most twisted imaginations to life, creating cakes that are not only disgusting and disturbing but also incredibly realistic, making them the stuff of nightmares.
Eight bakers from across the nation will compete for the championship title and a $20,000 prize. Lillard will be joined by expert judges, including Danielle Harris from the Halloween movie franchise and celebrity baker and author Nikk Alcaraz, known for Peculiar Baking.
Lillard's collaboration with Blumhouse is becoming a regular occurrence, having already worked on the live-action Five Nights At Freddy's movie and likely returning for its sequel. Regarding a potential return to the Scream franchise, the door remains open, especially with the recent appearances of Skeet Ulrich's Billy Loomis as a ghostly vision in Scream (2022) and Scream 6.
Killer Cakes is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on October 8.
