Prince Harry is finding it difficult to completely move on and embrace his new life in California, according to insights from a royal expert. Although he is now far removed from the royal lifestyle, the Duke of Sussex has been engaging in a significant amount of reflection on his past, as noted by The Sunday Times royal editor, Roya Nikkhah. Since stepping down as a senior member of the royal family in 2020, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocated to the US seeking greater privacy.
This move resulted in the couple losing their tax-funded private security, a loss that Harry has been actively trying to reverse through ongoing legal battles. 'He’s got various court cases still ongoing here,' Nikkhah told Fox News. 'I think we may see him back at the beginning of next year, which sort of pulls him back into an old bit of his life that was very difficult for him.'
Despite these challenges, Harry is deeply content with his family life in the States and is elated to be a father. 'I suppose for him, it’s just finding a role, a really meaningful role going forward,' Nikkhah said, noting that Harry, 40, is committed to continuing the Invictus Games, an event he founded in 2014, for years to come. 'I think for him going forward, it’s [finding] a meaningful world for himself living out in the States on the global stage,' she continued.
'Being a humanitarian is what he says he wants to be. I think that’s what he will probably look to focus on for the next few years — how he builds that profile as a humanitarian.' The Post has reached out to Harry’s representatives for comment. Recently, Harry has openly discussed feeling 'at a crossroads' with his work, as he mentioned in a newly released video with Markle, 43.
The couple made a joint appearance in a video where they discussed prioritizing children’s safety online through their Archewell Foundation. This was their first joint appearance in months, amidst reports suggesting that their professional relationship is 'in a very bad state.' In September, Nikkhah wrote in her initial report for The Times that Harry’s 'transition into the celebrity prince of California' has meant the end of his friendship with his brother, Prince William.
According to the royal expert, the strained relationship between the feuding brothers appears 'almost certainly beyond repair' as Harry seems caught 'between battling old demons and getting on with his life.' 'All he does is spend time looking back,' Harry’s former adviser told Nikkhah at the time. 'If only he could wrench his neck around and look forward.'
