Princess Kate of Wales has emphasized that love is the most valuable gift people can offer one another in a message to guests attending her annual Christmas carol service at London's Westminster Abbey next week.

Scheduled for December 6, this marks the fourth time Kate has hosted the concert, making it her most significant return to royal duties since undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer. In a letter addressed to the 1,600 invited guests, the 42-year-old wife of Prince William, who is heir to the throne, revisited themes of love and the importance of empathy, topics she has previously discussed in deeply personal statements and health updates.

Kate's letter highlighted that Christmas is not only a time for festivities but also for introspection and respite from daily stresses. She noted that the Christmas narrative mirrors 'our own vulnerabilities' and underscores the necessity of mutual support despite differences. 'Above all else, it encourages us to turn to love, not fear,' she wrote. 'It is this love which is the greatest gift we can receive. Not just at Christmas, but every day of our lives,' she added.

Prince William, who recently described the year as 'brutal' for the royal family, particularly due to Kate's treatment and his father King Charles' cancer diagnosis, will participate in the service with a reading. Additionally, six-time Olympic track cycling champion Chris Hoy, who disclosed his own terminal cancer diagnosis in October, will light a candle during the event.

The 'Together At Christmas' service will be televised on Britain's ITV on Christmas Eve.
