Catherine, the Princess of Wales, is set to attend the Wimbledon Men's final in London this Sunday as she continues her recovery from a cancer diagnosis, according to a statement from her Kensington Palace office.
"The Princess of Wales, Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, will be present at the Gentlemen's Singles Final of The Championships, Wimbledon on Sunday 14th July," the palace announced via a press release. British media have also indicated that the princess will be handing the trophy to the victor of the match, which features Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic and the reigning Spanish champion, Carlos Alcaraz.
Catherine made a cautious return to public life in the UK last month, her first appearance since her cancer diagnosis, attending a military parade in London to commemorate King Charles III's official birthday. The 42-year-old future queen was seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony, greeted with applause from the onlookers. This event occurred nearly three months after the princess disclosed that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment and had not participated in any public events since the Christmas Day service the previous year.
In a previous statement, Kate expressed that she was "making good progress" with her ongoing treatment, which is expected to continue for several more months, but acknowledged that she was "not out of the woods yet." She also mentioned her anticipation for attending the King's Birthday Parade with her family and her plans to engage in a few public activities over the summer.
Kate's revelation about her cancer came shortly after it was made public that British monarch Charles had also been diagnosed with the condition. Neither has disclosed the specific type of cancer they are dealing with.
