With the PS5 Pro set to launch this week on November 7, current PS5 owners who have accumulated a collection of physical games should consider purchasing the official PS5 Disc Drive, if they haven't already. The PS5 Pro features a GPU that delivers up to 45% faster rendering, AI-driven upscaling, enhanced ray tracing, and a 2TB SSD—twice the storage capacity of earlier PS5 models. However, it lacks a built-in disc drive. Consequently, all games must be bought and downloaded from the PlayStation Store unless you opt for the $80 official Disc Drive accessory.

As of November 5, Walmart is the sole major retailer with the $80 Disc Drive in stock and accessible to all customers. GameStop also has the Disc Drive available, but it's exclusive to members of their paid Pro program. Meanwhile, Amazon, Best Buy, and Target are currently out of stock.

If you haven't preordered the PS5 Pro yet, you can still secure one at major retailers for $700. Except for Amazon, these retailers are promising delivery on or just after the release date (within a day or two). Amazon's estimated delivery date, as of November 5, is November 11. Best Buy is the only retailer offering in-store pickup for online PS5 Pro preorders. For more information on the upgraded console, refer to our PS5 Pro preorder guide.
