RIYADH: New figures have revealed that Qatar experienced a 24.5 percent annual increase in the number of inbound visitors in August, reaching a total of 328,000.

Data from the National Planning Council’s Monthly Statistics bulletin indicates that the majority of these visitors, accounting for 41 percent, came from the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Air travel remained the most favored mode of entry, constituting 64 percent of all transit methods.

This surge in visitor numbers aligns with Qatar’s National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030, which aims to attract over 6 million annual visitors and establish the country as the Middle East’s fastest-growing tourist destination.

Additionally, the bulletin reported a 0.6 percent monthly increase in new driving licenses and a 11.3 percent rise in new registered vehicles, totaling 8,605, compared to July.
