RIYAD: Qiddiya Investment Co., fully owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has inked a deal with tech company Globant to transform Qiddiya City into an immersive hub.

As per the agreement, Globant will collaborate with QIC to create the Qiddiya “PLAY LIFE Connected Experience,” a digital platform for entertainment, sports, and culture aimed at revolutionizing how visitors and residents engage with the city’s diverse offerings, as stated in a press release.

The development of large-scale projects like Qiddiya is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to position the Kingdom as a leading global destination for tourism and entertainment.

“Our alliance with Globant signifies a significant stride towards achieving Qiddiya’s vision as the world’s premier city dedicated to play. The Qiddiya PLAY LIFE Connected Experience will redefine visitor interaction with our attractions and set a new benchmark for digital integration in entertainment and tourism,” said Abdulrahman Al-Ali, Chief Technology Officer at QIC.

He further added: “We are crafting a destination that is both innovative and unforgettable, and this partnership will ensure that each visitor’s experience is personalized, seamless, and truly distinctive.”

The press release highlighted that the PLAY LIFE Connected Experience framework will utilize advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cloud computing to develop a platform that personalizes and enhances every interaction within Qiddiya City.

This platform will enable visitors to book events, manage their schedules, explore new activities, and connect with the community, all through a personalized, real-time interface.

“Collaborating with Qiddiya on this project is a significant achievement for Globant. We are not just constructing a smart city but developing an immersive, digitally connected experience that brings Qiddiya to life in ways that transcend traditional entertainment. This represents the future of how cities and people will interact, and we are excited to spearhead this transformation,” said Federico Pienovi, CEO and Chief Business Officer of New Markets at Globant.

The integration of technology in Qiddiya City will demonstrate how digital ecosystems can elevate the entertainment and cultural sectors in the Kingdom, according to the press release.

Mamdouh Al-Doubayan, Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Globant, noted that the partnership will aid in advancing the Saudi workforce in the technological sector.

“Projects like Qiddiya offer unparalleled opportunities to impart our knowledge in digital transformation and innovation, particularly in the entertainment industry, to the next generation of Saudis. By creating opportunities for skill enhancement and reskilling, we are contributing to building the future workforce and enabling the Kingdom to lead in digital ecosystems,” said Al-Doubayan.
