Anyone up for a Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness reunion? No, we haven't received confirmation of a Doctor Strange 3 directed by Sam Raimi just yet (though we remain hopeful) — but we've heard that one of the stars from Raimi's first MCU venture might soon team up for a new horror thriller. According to Deadline, Rachel McAdams is in talks for a leading role in Send Help, a 20th Century Studios horror film where Raimi will serve as both producer and director.
As we reported in July, Send Help — based on an original script by Baywatch writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift — is being pitched as an island-set two-hander that blends elements of Rob Reiner's Misery and Robert Zemeckis' Cast Away. Further plot details are currently under wraps, but it's not far-fetched to assume that McAdams' potential role would likely be a co-leading one (two-handers typically don't require a third character, after all). Nothing has been officially announced yet, and the movie hasn't been greenlit, though McAdams' interest in the project certainly boosts its chances.
For Raimi, Send Help would mark his first directorial project since his work with Doctor Strange and his first pure horror film since 2009's Drag Me To Hell. For McAdams, the film would represent a significant shift in tone and pace from her last major movie, Kelly Freeman Craig's cozy coming-of-age film Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. That said, if anyone meets their demise in this film, we at least know McAdams can deliver a death announcement like no other, as evidenced by her iconic "Oh no! He died!" line in Game Night. We're going to revisit that gem while we wait for updates from 20th Century Studios on Send Help, so we can bring you the news to share with all your friends.
