Seventeen-year-old Raghav Gulati, hailing from Dubai Creek Resort, achieved a significant milestone in his golfing journey by winning the esteemed Tommy Fleetwood International Pathway Series, presented by DP World, at Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday.
Gulati, who plays off a +4.5 handicap, delivered impressive rounds of 73, 74, and 69, culminating in a total score of level par 216, securing his victory in the 54-hole event. Under the guidance of coach Stephen Deane at Dubai Golf, Gulati considers this win as one of the most significant highlights of his career thus far.
"I won the Montgomerie Golf Club Men’s Open earlier this year in February, and a couple of events in India last year," said Gulati. "But this second event of the three-part series is undoubtedly one of the biggest tournaments I’ve won on my resume."
The Female Division was claimed by another 17-year-old, Kanchana Duangsam from the USA, who represents the VSGA Golf Circuit. Duangsam, who resides in Doha, Qatar, expressed her delight at reversing the result from the previous event.
Fifteen-year-old Ethan Banger, from Trump International Golf Club in Dubai, made a memorable impact by scoring a hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth hole, using an eight iron from 163 yards. This achievement marked the first hole-in-one in the history of the Tommy Fleetwood International Pathway Series in the UAE.
The tournament, supported by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), is open to junior golfers aged between 12 and 18 with an approved and current golf handicap. The next event in the series will be held at Yas Links Abu Dhabi from February 10th to 12th, 2025.
