Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will retain his Raebareli seat, while his sister and party general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will make her electoral debut from the Wayanad seat, as announced by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday. Kharge clarified that Rahul Gandhi, who won two Lok Sabha seats, must vacate one according to law. He will keep Raebareli and vacate Wayanad. Kharge also confirmed that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will contest the elections from Wayanad. This decision was made after a meeting with top party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and general secretaries KC Venugopal and Priyanka Gandhi, at Kharge's residence. Rahul Gandhi won both Rae Bareli and Wayanad by significant margins, defeating BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh in Rae Bareli by 3,90,030 votes and CPI-M's Annie Raja in Wayanad by 3,64,422 votes.
