As Nag Ashwin's highly anticipated directorial venture, Kalki 2898 AD, made its debut on the big screen, actor Rashmika Mandanna took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her sincere congratulations to the entire film crew. Mandanna tweeted, "@nagashwin7, you are a remarkable GENIUS! ASTOUNDING!! Congratulations to Kalki. This movie truly deserves all the affection and more. Witnessing our mythological [deities] brought to life on screen is the highlight for me... Oh my goodness!! What an incredible film!!!!"
Kalki 2898 AD, featuring superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, enjoyed a phenomenal opening. This post-apocalyptic film draws inspiration from Hindu texts and is set in the year 2898 AD. The cast also includes Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. Prior to the film's release, Kamal Haasan praised the director, noting that he is a man of few words but possesses brilliant ideas and knows how to effectively communicate them.
"I never underestimate these seemingly ordinary individuals. They have a depth that only becomes apparent in conversation. Great ideas are best conveyed when presented appropriately, and Nagi excels at this," Haasan remarked. He further added, "I've always wanted to portray a villain because villains get to engage in all the enjoyable activities. While heroes are busy singing love songs and waiting for their leading ladies, villains can simply proceed with their plans. I thought I'd play the villain, which would be fun. However, Ashwin wanted a different approach. In the film, I'm akin to a sage with a misguided notion."
The film also features cameo appearances by actors Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur.
