Dubai's Rayhan Thomas is on the brink of securing his card at the DP World Tour Final Stage Qualifying in Spain, after a strong performance in the fifth round.

Rayhan Thomas, from India, expressed his determination to give his best on the final day at the DP World Tour Final Stage Qualifying School in Spain, following a fifth-round score of 66. This result places him in a tie for 22nd position with a total of 13-under 344. His previous rounds were 67, 72, 71, and 68. Leading the field at 24 under par after 15 holes of the fifth round is Eduardo Molinari (Italy), who is 43 years old and boasts three DP World Tour victories.

The first four rounds consisted of two rounds each on the Hills Course and Lakes Course. A cut to the top 65 players and ties allowed 83 players to advance to the final two rounds, which will be played over the Lakes Course. The local government announced a 24-hour lockdown due to adverse weather conditions, resulting in no play on the scheduled day, with resumption planned for the following day after the completion of rounds five and six.

A group of 20 players still need to complete their fifth rounds, as play was suspended due to lightning, deemed a hazardous situation. Completion of these rounds is scheduled for 8.30 am local time. Rayhan, 24, began his fifth round from tee 10, recording birdies on holes 13, 15, 16, and 18, finishing with a score of 32. He then played his back nine over holes 1-9, ending with a birdie on the 423-yard, par 4 ninth hole, resulting in a card of 66. This clean card, without any bogeys, was a goal for Thomas throughout the week, and he achieved it in the fifth round.

"Round five is 'Moving Day' this week as we are playing six rounds in the tournament – it is almost unique in the game of golf," he told Khaleej Times. "It was a good day for me and play was tough early on with some wind. I managed to make some ground up on the field ahead of me with some birdies on some tough holes. I then played well on my back nine – with some solid golf. I am excited about the rest of the week, I just have to go low – give it everything. I have nothing to lose."

The final round will again be played over the Lakes Course. For further information, visit: Q School - DP World Tour.
