Dubai-born golfer Rayhan Thomas is gearing up for the first round of Stage 2 of the DP World Tour Qualifying School, which kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) at the Fontanals Golf Club in Girona, Spain.

Rayhan, 24, will be competing alongside Lucas Vacarisas (Spain) and Oliver Fisher (England). His tee time for the opening round is set at 10.10 am (local time) from Tee one in Match 5. The course, known for its stunning mountainous backdrop, poses specific challenges that demand precision and skill.

“My journey from Thailand was smooth, with no delays or issues. I dropped off my mum in Dubai and had a brief but pleasant meeting with my dad at the airport coffee shop,” Rayhan shared with Khaleej Times.

“The golf course at Fontanals is nestled in the mountains, and the surrounding area of Girona is truly picturesque. Driving the ball accurately and keeping it straight is crucial here, as the greens are quite small. Placing the ball correctly on the greens will be key to making birdies.”

“The weather has been ideal—cool in the mornings, around 8 degrees, and warming up to about 15 degrees in the afternoon. I’m eagerly anticipating how this week unfolds. Wish me luck!” Rayhan added.

Oliver Fisher holds a unique record on the DP World Tour, being the only player to have shot a 59, achieved during the 2018 Portugal Masters at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura.

This week’s competition also includes three other venues: Desert Springs Resort, Isla Canela Links, and Golf Las Pinillas. The Fontanals Golf Club spans 7,119 yards and plays as a par 71.

The top performers from each of the four venues (final numbers to be announced after the first round) will advance to the Final Stage of the DP World Tour Qualifying School, scheduled for November 8th–13th, 2024, at Infinitum Golf in Tarragona, Spain.
