Rayhan Thomas posts a 72 in the second round of the DP World Tour Qualifying School in Spain.
Dubai’s Rayhan Thomas (India) is determined to catch the birdie wave after carding a second-round level-par 72, bringing his 36-hole total to 139 at the DP World Tour Final Stage Qualifying School in Spain. The Dubai-born golfer, who shot a first-round 67 on Friday at Infinitum Golf Club, currently occupies the 60th spot. Rayhan started his round on hole 10, scored a birdie on the 11th, and bogeyed the 18th to finish the back nine at level par. He followed this with seven pars on the front nine and closed with a bogey–birdie finish, ending the round at level par with a score of 72.
“I played quite well, for the most part, today – I just didn’t make any putts and three-putted twice,” he shared with Khaleej Times. “I made some other minor mistakes – drove it fine and hit some good irons. Looking ahead, I just need a low score, get on the birdie train – to be on the inside looking out, not the outside looking in.”
In the third round, Rayhan is set to tee off at 10.28 am from tee one in match 35 over the Hills Course. Leading the pack is former Ryder Cup player, Eduardo Molinari (It) with rounds of 65 and 61, holding a commanding five-shot lead. A cut will be made after 72 holes to the top 65 players and ties, who will then proceed to play the final two rounds. The top 20 players and ties after 108 holes will secure playing privileges on the DP World Tour for the upcoming season.
