The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert on Monday due to ongoing foggy conditions across the UAE. A red alert signifies the need for residents to exercise extreme caution as conditions can become severe. The NCM warned of deteriorating horizontal visibility, which may further decrease in certain coastal and inland areas until 9.00 AM. In a post on X, Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to be cautious due to reduced visibility, advising them to adhere to the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
These foggy conditions are anticipated to persist as the UAE enters winter, with temperatures becoming more comfortable, dipping as low as 14.7ºC. Today, temperatures are expected to reach up to 34ºC in coastal areas and as low as 16ºC in the mountains. With winter approaching, foggy mornings are becoming increasingly common. The weather department also issued red alerts on Saturday and Sunday mornings, warning of a drop in horizontal visibility that could worsen at times.
While the NCM forecasted foggy conditions in some parts of the country this morning, the overall weather is expected to be fair with occasional partial cloud cover. Humid conditions are forecasted for tonight and will continue into Tuesday morning, with a possibility of fog or mist forming in certain coastal and inland areas. Light to moderate winds are expected to blow across the country. The sea conditions are anticipated to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
