The remains of an eight-year-old girl who had been missing in Turkey for 19 days have been discovered following an extensive search operation, according to the interior minister's statement on Sunday.

Narin Guran's body was located in a river within the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, approximately 1km away from the village where she resided with her family, as reported by Turkish news channel NTV.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared on X, formerly Twitter, that 'unfortunately, the lifeless body of Narin, who went missing in the village of Tavsantepe...has been found.'

Narin vanished on August 21, prompting a massive search effort across Turkey, with several prominent figures participating in a social media campaign titled 'Find Narin.'

Her uncle was apprehended last week on suspicion of murder and 'deprivation of liberty.' Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc stated on X that 'those responsible for Narin's death will be brought to justice.'
