With Gladiator II set to hit theaters on November 22, now is the ideal moment to revisit the original. Fortunately, Gladiator's 4K Limited Edition Steelbook has just been reprinted and is available for just $20 (down from $31) at Walmart. Amazon also has it in stock, though it's priced at $30.
Released in 2000, Gladiator featured Russell Crowe as Maximus, a man stripped of his name, honor, and dignity by the conniving son of the emperor, Commodus. Driven by vengeance for the murder of his family, Maximus is compelled to fight in the gladiatorial arenas of ancient Rome as he pursues his quest for freedom.
Similar to other 4K Blu-ray releases, this edition includes a standard Blu-ray copy and a digital streaming code. Notably, viewers can choose between the original theatrical cut or the unrated version, which features additional graphic scenes. The special features include:
Gladiator was a massive success both critically and commercially, earning $465.4 million globally during its theatrical run. At the Academy Awards, it won five awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe's performance. The sequel, Gladiator 2, is set to premiere on November 22 and stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington.
