Richard Gere is bidding farewell to Dodge. The 75-year-old actor, known for his roles in "American Gigolo" and "Pretty Woman," has announced his plans to relocate to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 41, and their children. During an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, Gere shared details about their upcoming move and Thanksgiving plans in Madrid.

"My wife is Spanish. Is this a problem for anybody out there?" Gere quipped. "But my wife is Spanish and she gave me about seven years here, so we're going to spend some years in Madrid with her family," he explained, noting that he will still return to the United States. Gere also mentioned that their children are bilingual, which he believes will help them thrive in Spain.

Gere further discussed their holiday plans in Spain, highlighting the close-knit nature of Silva's family. "My wife grew up in a big Spanish family, like a big Italian family, and her grandmother was kind of the glue that held that all together," he said. "And the grandmother passed away [about] two years ago, so my wife, I can see her morphing into the new grandmother of this extended family. So she's already planning for 35 people for Sunday lunches."

The couple met in 2014 at a hotel in Positano, Italy, and married in May 2018. They share two young sons: Alexander, 5, and James, 4. Both Gere and Silva have children from previous marriages, making their family a blended one. Silva has an 11-year-old son, Albert, from her previous marriage to Govind Friedland, while Gere has a 24-year-old son, Homer, from his second marriage to Carey Lowell.

Gere recently sold his Connecticut home for $10.7 million, a property he had purchased from Grammy-winning singer Paul Simon in 2022 for $10.8 million. He first revealed their plans to move during an interview with Vanity Fair Spain in April. "For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture," he told the outlet. "She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers."

Gere's decision to move follows a trend of other celebrities considering changes in their living situations following President-elect Donald Trump's victory. Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly put their Montecito, Calif., mansion on the market and moved to the UK, according to sources. Other icons like Sharon Stone, Cher, and Barbra Streisand also threatened to leave the United States if Trump was elected.
