Richard Karn is looking and feeling better than ever. The 68-year-old alum of “Home Improvement” followed a strict diet alongside his wife of 40 years, Tudi Roche, resulting in a 30-pound weight loss. “We embarked on this weight-loss journey where we consumed four ounces of meat, four ounces of vegetables, and limited our carbs. We stuck to this regimen for six weeks, and it made a significant difference,” Karn shared with Fox News Digital in an interview published Monday. “It essentially redefined our dietary needs,” the actor added. “You no longer feel the need to overfill your plate because your body and mind adapt to the new routine. After six weeks, it becomes clear that this approach is beneficial.”

Karn emphasized the importance of moderation in maintaining health. “If possible, instead of indulging in five desserts, just have a taste of one.” As Al Borland on “Home Improvement,” Karn admitted that resisting food temptations during the eight years of filming the ’90s sitcom was challenging. “Suddenly, food was readily available on set. You could eat whatever you wanted. You attended events where food was provided,” he reminisced. “At some point, you need to pause and think, ‘I could eat all of this, but I shouldn’t. I can’t, and I’m 10 pounds heavier than I’d like to be.’ Moderation is key.”

Since shedding 30 pounds, Karn noted that while he’s “reached a comfortable weight,” he felt he “looked too thin.” Karn and Tim Allen, his co-star on “Home Improvement” 30 years ago, reunited in 2021 for the show “Assembly Required.” Last year, Allen, 71, mentioned that the “Home Improvement” cast frequently discusses the possibility of a reboot or spinoff. “It’s intriguing to think about ‘Home Improvement’ focusing on the next generation,” Allen told The Messenger. “Imagine if all the characters had children, and I’m a grandparent. Perhaps something like ‘Home Re-Improvement.’ It’s been a topic of conversation.”

However, Patricia Richardson, who portrayed Allen’s wife, Jill Taylor, on the show, denied any involvement in discussions about a reboot earlier this year. “It was strange; I would hear that he was publicly stating everyone was on board for a ‘Home Improvement’ reunion, but he never consulted me or Jonathan [Taylor Thomas],” Richardson revealed on the “Back to the Best” podcast. “I called Jonathan one day and asked, ‘Has he discussed this with you?’ He replied, ‘No.’” In the show, Allen played Tim “The Toolman” Taylor, the host of a home-improvement show and father to three sons, played by Taran Noah Smith, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Zachery Ty Bryan.
