Rimac is set to construct a track-exclusive hypercar featuring a singular, centralized seating arrangement, as confirmed by CEO Mate Rimac to Motor1 on Friday. "We've now chosen to extend our boundaries beyond road vehicles and into track racing," Rimac informed Motor1. "We're developing a single-seater track car that will outperform any racing car on most circuits. It will be quicker than Formula 1 cars and faster than those at Le Mans."

This marks a significant shift for the Croatian high-performance brand, which has previously focused on producing two-seater electric cars for road use. Rimac further revealed that the car will feature a closed-canopy cockpit and will not be based on the Nevera, instead utilizing its own unique platform. "We might unveil it this year and conduct initial track events next year," Rimac shared with Motor1.

Regarding the possibility of launching a spec series with the car, Mate Rimac stated that the company intends to establish new records first. The CEO assured Motor1 that the single-seater will be exclusively for track use, with no plans for road-legal versions. However, it will not adhere to any established racing regulations. "Safety measures are in place, but beyond that, there are no rules," Rimac explained. "It will surpass the regulations of Formula 1 or LMP."

This announcement comes shortly after the brand showcased its newest creation, the Nevera R. A more refined version of the all-electric hypercar, the Nevera R boasts 2,107 horsepower, with a claimed 0-60 mph time of 1.74 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 8.23 seconds, and a top speed of 256 mph. The potential for even greater performance without the limitations of road-legal requirements is intriguing. Jeff Perez contributed to this report.
