Nine individuals lost their lives during a rocket assault on a soccer field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday, as reported by Israeli Channel 13, amidst heightened hostilities between Israel and armed factions in Lebanon. The Israeli emergency services had previously announced that nine individuals sustained severe injuries from a rocket launched from Lebanon that struck a village soccer field in the Druze village of Majdal Shams. A medical responder detailed extensive damage and flames at the site.
This incident on the soccer field occurred subsequent to an Israeli operation in Lebanon that resulted in the death of four militants on the same day. Two security sources in Lebanon identified the deceased fighters from the Israeli strike in Kfarkila, southern Lebanon, as members of various armed groups, with at least one being affiliated with Hezbollah. The Israeli military confirmed that its aircraft had targeted a Hezbollah-linked military facility after detecting a militant group entering the structure.
In response to the Kfarkila attacks, Hezbollah asserted responsibility for at least four retaliatory strikes, including those involving Katyusha rockets. However, senior Hezbollah media spokesperson Mohammad Afif refuted any involvement in the attack on Majdal Shams.
