India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat in the day-night second Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval on Friday. The visitors are buoyant after a 295-run win in the first Test in Perth, but Australia have a perfect record of seven wins in pink-ball Tests at the venue.
"Looks like a good pitch. It seems a bit dry at the moment but there's enough grass covering," said Rohit, who missed the opening Test due to the birth of his second child. "There will be something for everyone."
India retained Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul at the top of the order after their performances in Perth, with Rohit set to bat at six. Shubman Gill returns at three after recovering from a fractured thumb, with Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel making way.
Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was selected ahead of Washington Sundar after being omitted for Perth, aiming to add to his 536 Test wickets. Australia announced their team on Thursday, with Scott Boland replacing injured speedster Josh Hazlewood in the only change.
"Day one, pink ball, might offer a bit of nip for us," said Australia captain Pat Cummins, noting the pitch's green tinge.
