Daniele De Rossi has been dismissed by Roma after serving as head coach for eight months, with Ivan Juric now taking over on a contract until the end of the current season. De Rossi's exit was confirmed following a winless start to the Serie A season. Juric brings substantial Serie A coaching experience, having spent three years with Torino before parting ways mutually at the end of last season. De Rossi, who dedicated nearly two decades to Roma as a player, assumed the head coach role in January after José Mourinho's departure. He had extended his contract until 2027 in June. A club statement explained: “This decision is made with the team's best interests in mind, aiming to return to the desired trajectory promptly, especially given the early stages of the season.” It also expressed gratitude to De Rossi: “A heartfelt thank you to Daniele, who will always be part of the Giallorossi family, for his passionate and dedicated work over the past months.” On Sunday, De Rossi was sent off at the end of Roma's 1-1 draw against Genoa, leaving the club in 16th place in the table. The midfielder was a beloved figure among Roma fans and enjoyed a distinguished career with the club from 2001 to 2019. Juric, a former Croatia international with a significant portion of his playing career in Italy, guided Crotone to Serie A and has also coached Genoa and Verona. Meanwhile, former Milan manager Stefano Pioli has been appointed by Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, reportedly signing a three-year contract. The club announced on X: “Pioli Is Nassrawi. We welcome Stefano Pioli as our new coach.” Cristiano Ronaldo's team has drawn two of their first three league games this season and tied 1-1 with Iraq's Al-Shorta in the AFC Champions League on Monday. Pioli, who left Milan at the end of last season, will start his tenure against Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq on Friday.
