Rosie O’Donnell has addressed the recent arrest of her daughter Chelsea Belle, who was taken into custody for child neglect and drug possession. Chelsea, adopted by the actress as a baby, was apprehended last month in Wisconsin after authorities discovered drugs, including a meth pipe, near her 11-month-old son Atlas at her residence.

Rosie, 62, shared a statement on Instagram on Saturday concerning her 27-year-old daughter’s legal issues. “Chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time,” Rosie wrote, accompanying a picture of Chelsea holding a newborn baby. “Sadly, this is not new for our family,” the former co-host of “The View” continued. “Chelsea has battled drug addiction for a decade – we are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease #💔#love#alanon.”

Chelsea, who has four children, reportedly called the police last month following a dispute with her boyfriend Jacob Nelund, according to InTouch. Officers arrived at Chelsea’s home in Amberg, Wis., for the second time in weeks, finding her son Atlas in his room near a box of hypodermic needles, along with a meth pipe containing residue. Evidence also suggested that drug trafficking might have been taking place in the house, as a meth-cooking setup was present, according to the report.

Chelsea was found to have 18 grams of meth on her person and was charged with four felony counts: maintaining a drug trafficking place, child neglect, possession of meth, and possession of THC. She was booked on September 10 and released on September 24 on a $2,000 bail. Subsequently, on October 11, police stopped Chelsea and arrested her after allegedly finding a meth pipe. Officers also claimed she had pills, including Oxycodone, Morphine Sulfate, and Hydrocodone, hidden in her bra. She faces three felonies for meth possession, bail jumping, and possession of narcotics, as well as two misdemeanors for resisting or obstructing an officer and drug paraphernalia. Chelsea remains in custody at Oconto County Jail, with court appearances scheduled for November 4 and 7.

Rosie and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter adopted Chelsea as a baby, but she moved out in 2016 at the age of 18 and relocated to Wisconsin to be near her biological mother. The comedian described Chelsea as “mentally ill” to the Daily Mail in 2017, noting her struggles with drug addiction and mental health. However, in 2018, Rosie disclosed that they had reconciled when Chelsea was pregnant with her first child. “She’s doing better now and we’re both communicating with each other,” Rosie said on “The Talk” in September 2018, adding that forgiveness had brought a sense of grace to their relationship.

Rosie is also mother to four other children: Parker, 29, Blake, 24, Vivienne, 21, and Dakota, 11.
