Roy Keane has humorously remarked that his daughter’s engagement to Taylor Harwood-Bellis is “not done and dusted” after the Southampton defender scored on his England debut against the Republic of Ireland. Harwood-Bellis is set to marry Keane’s daughter Leah, but managed to ruffle his future father-in-law’s feathers by heading home the final goal of England’s 5-0 victory over Ireland. This came just 17 minutes after he was substituted on for his debut, marking a memorable night at Wembley for the 22-year-old. Keane, who represented Ireland 67 times between 1991 and 2005, commented while working as a pundit for ITV: “It’s bittersweet for me this. It is not done and dusted yet. Things can change very quickly in the Keane household, let me tell you. Over the last few months he has shown a goal threat, even playing for Southampton. It is nice for him.
“It’s good for him, it’s good for him to make his debut, like I say he has a goal threat. He’s a nice kid, his family have done a great job, he is a really nice kid.” Meanwhile, Heimir Hallgrímsson was left furious about his side’s humiliating 5-0 defeat at Wembley, suggesting his players “gave up” after Liam Scales’ sending-off. “Well, I’m kind of lost for words,” the Republic of Ireland manager said, after the penalty incident and red card led to three goals in six minutes for England. “Six minutes of kind of madness. Yeah, it was a shock, conceding a penalty, conceding a goal, losing a player. We probably lost our heads at this moment, leading into a second goal and a third goal. And from there you can see, yeah, we maybe lost our head, gave up.
“We’ve talked and I said before we’re struggling with confidence, and they clearly took away all confidence from what we did really well in the first half. So, yeah, you cannot explain things like this. It’s just happened, a slap in the face and was difficult to come back from it.”
