After conducting a series of inspections focused on delivery motorcycles in various parts of Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has imposed over 1,200 fines. These penalties were primarily issued for violations like unsafe driving practices, not wearing protective equipment, and operating motorcycles that failed to meet technical standards.

The inspections were carried out in busy areas such as Hessa Street, Za'abeel Street, Jumeirah Street, Downtown, Mirdif, and Motor City. This initiative was part of a larger effort to enhance the safety and compliance of delivery services. "During these campaigns, we conducted over 11,000 inspections of delivery drivers, their vehicles, and facilities. Consequently, 44 motorcycles were impounded due to being unfit for use or having expired insurance and registration. Moreover, 33 electric bikes were seized for operating without the necessary permits from the relevant authorities," explained Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at RTA's Licensing Agency.

Common violations included neglecting public safety requirements, such as not wearing protective gear (helmets, gloves, reflective vests, and elbow and knee guards), operating delivery motorcycles without proper training certification, reckless or dangerous driving, and using motorcycles that did not comply with approved technical standards," added Saeed Al Ramsi.

In addition to the inspections, the RTA organized awareness workshops and safety campaigns, reaching over 3,600 delivery drivers to promote adherence to motorcycle safety regulations. Aligned with its vision to be the World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility, the RTA remains dedicated to conducting inspection and awareness campaigns, issuing necessary guidelines, and optimizing delivery operations to ensure the safety of delivery drivers and all road users.

The awareness workshops also addressed the main challenges faced by delivery drivers in their daily operations and suggested practical solutions to improve their efficiency and road safety for everyone.
