The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has reported significant growth in its digital channels, generating a total of Dh3.7 billion through 821 million digital transactions in 2023. This represents a 16.8% increase in digital revenues compared to 2022, which stood at Dh3.5 billion. The transaction volume via smart apps surged by 29%, recording 15.29 million transactions, while the S’hail app facilitated 18 million journey plans.

The RTA revealed that the number of transactions, users, and revenue streams through its digital channels showed remarkable growth compared to the previous year. Notably, the real-time happiness indicator across RTA’s apps exceeded 95%, marking a 2% improvement from 2022. Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, stated that the number of registered users on RTA’s digital service channels reached 1.404 million in 2023, a 20% increase from 2022. Additionally, RTA’s apps were downloaded 3.056 million times from app stores.

In line with its commitment to digital transformation, RTA launched an updated version of the RTA Dubai app earlier this year, consolidating various transportation services into a unified platform. The update features an AI-powered parking prediction tool covering 190,000 locations and an NFC-based nol top-up service for instant balance updates. RTA also upgraded its Mahboob Chatbot with ChatGPT technology, enhancing its ability to provide human-like responses and better data protection.

Furthermore, RTA distributed 30 new smart kiosks across customer happiness centers and service provider locations, generating over Dh309 million in revenues, a 12% increase from 2022. The S’hail app was also updated to offer diverse services, including bicycle and e-scooter lane activation, taxi stand locations, and event information in coordination with the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The Dubai Drive app introduced a vehicle plate transfer service and enabled login through UAE Pass for a smoother user experience.

RTA’s 360 Services initiative saw the launch of 63 new services in its first phase, including fine payments, marine transport rentals, and the development of the 'Invest with RTA' platform. Additionally, RTA integrated its services with private insurance providers on the Dubai Now app, offering a seamless experience. The authority also developed 11 services within the Emirati Package and seven services on the Dubai Now app as part of its 360 Services plan for joint channels.
