Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) successfully replaced 900 lighting units with energy-efficient LED lighting along a 9km stretch of Sheikh Rashid Street. This upgrade covers 10 lanes in both directions, contributing to the sustainability of road lighting in the emirate.
The initiative aligns with Dubai's strategic objectives to conserve energy usage and promote the green economy, as well as the UAE's Sustainability Initiative 2024. The project was executed in three phases over six months, progressively covering different sections of the street.
Abdullah Lootah, Director of Road and Facilities Maintenance at RTA, emphasized the benefits of LED lighting, highlighting its environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, extended lifespan, and enhanced brightness and color clarity. He also underscored how these advancements support RTA and Dubai’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
RTA remains dedicated to enhancing the road network and facilities, integrating smart and innovative technical solutions tailored to the UAE's climate to further advance sustainability goals.
