Sam Mullane, representing Team UAE, delivered his best performance of the week with a final round score of 69 at the Nomura Cup in Thailand.

Mullane, a 21-year-old golfer from the UAE, shot a three-under-par 69 in the final round, concluding the 72-hole tournament at three-over-par. His scores for the week were 78, 71, 73, and 69, placing him in a tie for 17th position and making him the top UAE player in the competition. Mullane shared his thoughts on the final round with Khaleej Times, stating, “I began on the back nine and played exceptionally well from holes 11 to 16, sinking four birdie putts on 12, 13, 15, and 16. I parred 17 and made a precise nine-iron shot on 18, which I converted into another birdie. This put me at five-under through nine holes, finishing the outward nine in 31. I faced some challenges on the front nine, with bogeys on 5 and 6, but managed a good up-and-down on 8 and narrowly missed a birdie opportunity on 9, ending with a 69. Overall, I’m pleased with my performance, especially considering my difficult start on day one.”

Mullane also mentioned his upcoming plans, “My next event is the UAE Cup in Al Ain next week. I’m returning to Dubai tonight.” Team UAE’s second-best scores of the day were achieved by Ahmad Skaik and Jonathan Sevaraj, both shooting 74.

The Nomura Cup, an amateur team event held biennially, saw the UAE finish 12th in the team division, which operates under a best-two-of-three format per day. Vietnam secured the team title with a total score of 20-under-par, winning by three shots. Japan finished second at 17-under, with New Zealand in third at 11-under. Team Australia posted the best score of the day, nine-under, tying for fourth with Korea, just one shot behind New Zealand.

In the individual competition, Vietnam’s Nguyen Anh Minh claimed the title with rounds of 71, 67, 71, and 67, finishing at 12-under-par 276. He narrowly beat New Zealand’s Declan O'Donovan, who shot a 66 in the final round to finish two strokes back. Fellow New Zealander Robby Turnbull secured third place.
