Saudi Arabia declared on Wednesday that the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran constituted a "blatant violation" of Iran's sovereignty. This statement, made by the Saudi deputy foreign minister during a gathering of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) members, marks the first official reaction from the kingdom, a significant regional power alongside Iran, since the incident on July 31 in the Iranian capital. Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji further emphasized that Saudi Arabia firmly opposes "any infringement on the sovereignty of states or meddling in the domestic affairs of any nation".
