The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence of Saudi Arabia, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, has stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has no connection or participation in the targeting of Hodeidah. In a statement released on Sunday by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Brigadier General Al-Maliki confirmed that the Kingdom will not permit any entity to breach its airspace.
On Saturday, Israeli fighter jets conducted an airstrike on Hodeidah port in Yemen. The Israeli military asserted that the attack was a response to recent attacks against Israel. Previously, Yemen's Houthis had claimed responsibility for a drone strike on Tel Aviv that resulted in one fatality.
On Friday, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the drone strike. Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, expressed deep concern over the escalation risks posed by such dangerous acts and called for maximum restraint.
Following the Israeli attack on Hodeidah, Yemen's Houthis pledged on Saturday to deliver an 'effective response.'
