RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has fostered an environment that enables its young generation to achieve their aspirations through the Vision 2030 program, as stated by the Kingdom’s vice minister of tourism.
During her address at the Misk Global Forum in Riyadh, Princess Haifa bint Mohammed Al-Saud encouraged Saudi youth to excel in new technologies and rely on trustworthy sources of information. She underscored the significance of staying well-informed and highlighted that success demands patience and persistence, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative is among the most ambitious plans to reshape the Kingdom and prepare it for the future. A core objective of the program is empowering the youth by offering them employment opportunities and technological access.
“Nothing is impossible in Saudi Arabia. We are blessed that Saudi Arabia has demonstrated that progress and development are attainable,” Princess Haifa remarked. She further noted that the Kingdom’s transformative journey is unparalleled, both regionally and globally.
Saudi Arabia’s efforts in job creation are yielding positive outcomes, with the latest report from the General Authority for Statistics indicating that the unemployment rate among Saudi nationals has dropped to 7.1 percent. This represents a 0.5 percentage point reduction from the previous quarter and a 1.4 percentage point decrease compared to the same period last year.
The report also showcased a notable improvement in the unemployment rate among Saudi women, which experienced a sharp quarterly decline of 1.4 percentage points, reaching 12.8 percent by the end of the second quarter.
The eighth edition of the Misk Global Forum, themed “By Youth for Youth,” commenced in Riyadh on Nov. 18. The two-day event convened young leaders from the Kingdom and across the globe, providing a platform for dialogue and collaboration.
The Misk Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 2011 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, plays a pivotal role in nurturing the young generation in Saudi Arabia by cultivating an environment conducive to creativity and innovation through initiatives such as Misk City, Misk Art Institute, Manga Productions, the Science Center, and Misk Schools.
In September, Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb disclosed that the Kingdom is allocating significant funds to bolster the tourism sector and create jobs, particularly for young people and women.
In August, a report by professional services firm PwC indicated that countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, are undergoing swift transformation, driven by a burgeoning youth population eager to embrace change and innovation. The report also emphasized that the young generation in Saudi Arabia is increasingly conscious of sustainable development goals, and organizations like the Misk Foundation are supporting the youth through various initiatives across sectors including education, innovation, arts, and culture.
