The individual was charged with "committing criminal acts that involved betraying his country, joining a terrorist cell affiliated with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, and financing terrorism and supporting terrorist acts and ideology." The Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia also confirmed in their statement that the accused was sentenced for supporting terrorist ideology and acts.
The accused underwent a trial, where a verdict was reached affirming his guilt. He was subsequently sentenced to death as a discretionary punishment. This ruling was upheld by both the Specialised Criminal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, followed by a royal order to enforce the verdict.
