Residents of Saudi Arabia have been advised to remain vigilant as hail and thunderstorms are expected across various regions of the country.
A red alert has been issued for flash floods, thunderstorms, and extremely low visibility, effective from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on September 15. The Saudi Department of Civil Defence has urged residents to adhere to the instructions provided by authorities due to the severe weather conditions observed in multiple areas.
Additionally, residents have been advised to avoid flood channels and water accumulation sites. Earlier forecasts from the National Centre of Meteorology had anticipated hail and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in several regions, including Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah, extending as far as Madinah.
In a recent incident last month, floods in the Makkah region resulted in camels and cattle being swept away. Despite the heavy rains, pilgrims continued to perform Umrah.
