RIYADH: Saudi Aramco has advocated for a revised energy transition strategy that focuses on the requirements of Asia and the Global South, in response to worries about the current plan's uneven advancement.

During his address at the Singapore International Energy Week, Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser underscored the necessity for a "Transition Plan 2.0," with Asia taking a central role in global energy initiatives.

"This may be Asia's century. However, the voices and priorities of Asia, along with those of the broader Global South, are not clearly represented in the current transition planning, and the entire world is experiencing the repercussions," Nasser stated.

He highlighted that the ongoing transition is "much slower, less equitable, and more complex than many anticipated," calling for a more practical approach to reducing emissions.
