Selena Gomez made a surprising disclosure during her interview with Vanity Fair. The 32-year-old celebrity revealed that she is unable to bear children herself. She stated: “I have numerous medical conditions that would jeopardize both my life and the baby’s. That was something I had to mourn for a while.” The star of Only Murders in the Building suffers from Lupus, an autoimmune disease, and bipolar disorder.
In the Vanity Fair interview, Gomez mentioned that she hasn’t lost hope of having children; she is exploring surrogacy or adoption. Her mother, Mandy Teefey, was adopted. “It’s not the way I imagined it would happen. I thought it would unfold like it does for everyone else,” she reflected. “I’m in a much better place now regarding that. I consider it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to undertake surrogacy or adoption, both of which are significant possibilities for me.”
She continued: “It made me really grateful for the other avenues available for those who are desperate to become mothers. I’m one of those people.” Gomez added: “I’m excited to see what that journey will entail, but it will look a bit different. Ultimately, I don’t care. It will be mine. It will be my baby.”
