Shames Al Hashemi emerged as the champion of the 29th Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup held at the Faldo Course of the Emirates Golf Club. The competition featured 40 Emirati golfers participating in a Stableford format, with Al Hashemi securing victory by scoring 36 points.

Rashed Al Emadi and Rayyan Al Maazmi tied for second place with 35 points each. Rashed displayed consistent performance, achieving net birdies on holes 14 and 16, while Rayyan excelled on the front nine, securing a gross birdie on hole 8.

During the prize presentation, Dubai Duty Free Chief Operating Officer, Ramesh Cidambi, and Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President, Marketing, were accompanied by General Abdullah Alhashmi, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation.

In the Junior Division, Tariq Khoory clinched victory with 32 points, displaying remarkable performance in the closing stages of the round. Aasiya Saleem emerged victorious in the Ladies Division with 34 points, finishing strong with a net birdie on Hole 18. Intissar Rich claimed the Gross Division title with 37 points, showcasing exceptional skill on the front nine.

General Abdullah Alhashmi expressed the significance of the UAE Nationals Cup for the UAE national golf community and commended the collaboration between Dubai Duty Free and the Emirates Golf Federation in promoting the sport. He extended gratitude to Mr. Colm McLoughlin for his unwavering dedication and leadership in the development of UAE Golf.

Marking his retirement on May 31, 2024, after 55 years in the travel retail industry and 41 years at Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Duty Free executive vice chairman and CEO, Mr. Colm McLoughlin will step down from his role.
