Prominent figures such as musician Shankar Mahadevan, actress Shabana Azmi, and former Indian tennis player Leander Paes were awarded honorary doctorates by Techno India University (TIU) in Kolkata on Monday.

Mahadevan expressed his deep gratitude, stating, "This is an incredibly special day for me. I am profoundly grateful and honored to receive this Doctorate from Techno India, a highly esteemed institution." He further noted, "I feel even more blessed to share this moment with others... I am thankful for this recognition. It also instills a responsibility to strive harder in the realm of music, not merely for entertainment but to harness music as a means for human betterment and to address various issues affecting humanity," he added. Mahadevan performed a song from the film Lakshya.

Earlier, Azmi shared her joy on Instagram about receiving the honorary doctorate in the presence of the Former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. Her post was inundated with messages of congratulations. Actor-director Farhan Akhtar commented, "Congratulations," while actor Shibani Dandekar expressed her appreciation with emojis.
