Sharjah Airport has recently welcomed the inaugural flights of Saudi airline Flynas, adding to the roster of carriers conducting scheduled flights to and from Sharjah in the UAE. The airline plans to operate 7 weekly flights from Jeddah to Sharjah Airport and 2 weekly flights from Madinah to Sharjah Emirate using its Boeing 737 aircraft. This move is part of an effort to expand the international aviation network through Sharjah Airport and cater to the increasing number of passengers and air cargo movements, thanks to the high-quality and efficient services provided.

This event was marked by the launch of Flynas' first flight, which was attended by Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of SAA, along with Sultan Al Khaldi, KSA Sales Director at Flynas, and Syed Mazharuddin, Regional Manager GCC at Flynas, among other officials and managers from Sharjah Airport Authority. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), expressed his pride in Flynas' decision to join the network of airlines served by Sharjah Airport. He emphasized that the Sharjah Airport Authority is committed to executing a long-term strategy aimed at strengthening the airport's standing in the travel and aviation sectors through service and facility expansions.

This strategy aligns with the ongoing expansion project aimed at boosting the airport's capacity to 25 million passengers annually by the end of 2027. Al Midfa further highlighted that the growth in travel and aviation through Sharjah Airport, along with the increasing number of airlines choosing it as their hub, will enhance Sharjah's tourism profile, making it a global economic and tourism hotspot attracting visitors from the Gulf countries, the Arab world, and beyond. He also pointed out the significant growth in tourism, travel, and cargo movements between the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, driven by the diverse tourism offerings, major international events hosted by both countries, and robust economic and trade ties, in addition to religious pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia.
